In the search of a path, you find yourself…
Lelê is a family nickname, the first syllable of (Le)ticia, twice. In my family, this is usually how you were given your nickname, either to shorten it or because young siblings could not pronounce our full name.
There are many versions of my nickname: Lelê, Leti, and Ticia just to name a few. I love them all, because they all relate to a time or close person in my life.
First the hummingbird. If you have never heard the hummingbird story, it is worth your time. I have incorporated the moral of that story in key parts of my life. I first heard it in a documentary about a soccer player from Brasil, they showed a youth program in the slums of Brasil where he grew up. A social worker explained that she was not able to change the whole neighborhood or affect all of the kids’ lives, but that she was doing her part.
We all go through tough times, and when I wanted to give up the most, my Mom always told me I had to do my part, and God would provide the rest. The Hummingbird story resonated with me. As I pushed on, I discovered it’s true and worth it. We should all do what we can, in every stage of life. It makes all the difference, to know that your small part counts, and matters.
Second, the Bee. A later theme in my life, but the more I read about it, the more I can relate to it. A bee’s priority is their home, the hive, and it is a teamwork system. This Bee Meaning touches on the aspects of a social animal that is symbolic of love, and nurturing of family and community.
